On 2021-06-23 Jackson County, Oregon Board of Commissioners Adopted Second Amendment ORD 2021-3 as part of the Jackson County Unified Code (Addition of Section 216.24).

This sets the County’s policy relative to proposed State and Federal legislation, which violates the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article 1, Section 27, of the Oregon Constitution.  The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States provides that “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Article 1, Section 27 of the Oregon Constitution provides that “The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defense [sic] of themselves, and the State.”

The hearing and public input period are over, and the ordinance was adopted Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Jackson County BOC meeting scheduled for 9:30am. The Ordinance will become effective on August 23, 2021.
